The Yeutter Student Fellows program is a professional development program for students seeking a margin of excellence in their career preparation by connecting knowledge gained in the classroom with professional development opportunities. Each year, a new cohort of students from various majors and colleges across campus comes together around the common theme of international trade, learning to view trade issues from different perspectives.
The institute’s namesake, Clayton Yeutter, was passionate about students and preparing them for our changing world. During a 1989 commencement speech he said—
“…if you are prepared to be broad and creative and global in your thinking, you should have a very productive and rewarding career indeed.”

Meet Justin Barbee
Major: Agricultural Economics
Minor: Agronomy; International Trade
Hometown: Hastings, Nebraska
Interests, Internships, & Aspirations:
Justin is a senior majoring in Agricultural Economics. Interning with Tredas and Cooperative Producers Inc., Justin has analyzed market trends, originated grain through farmer outreach, and contributed to client operations. With a passion for agricultural economics, Justin has hands-on experience in grain merchandising, commodity brokering, and crop insurance, and has a strong interest in commodity markets, especially in identifying arbitrage opportunities and studying the impact of international trade and policy on domestic markets. After graduation, Justin aspires to pursue a career in commodity brokering or grain merchandising!

Meet Logan Walsh
Major: Economics
Minor: International Trade
Hometown: Thornton, Colorado
Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: Graduating in the spring of 2026, Logan is pursuing a major in Economics with a minor in International Trade. Logan is currently working as an assistant to a State Senator, and has previously interned for the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council. With a passion for agriculture and a sharp mind for policy, Logan enjoys learning about trade and economic policy and plans to pursue a career in international trade policy!

Meet Lachlan Ritchie
Major: Agricultural Economics
Minor: International Trade; Mathematics; Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication (ALEC)
Hometown: Omaha, Nebraska
Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: Lachlan is currently a junior who is pursuing a major in Agricultural Economics. Having spent the past summer working in Washington, D.C. for DTB AgriTrade, Lachlan enjoys learning about the global trading system and how countries work together to break down trade barriers. With valuable hands-on experience navigating agricultural trade policy issues, Lachlan is interested in a career in agricultural trade!

Meet Bryson Rader
Major: Agronomy
Minor: Horticulture; International Trade; Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship; International Agriculture and Natural Resources
Hometown: Hastings, Nebraska
Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: Majoring in Agronomy, Bryson is currently working on market research and enterprise development in the Engler Entrepreneurship Program to find new ways to market Aronia berries. Bryson's academic interests include learning about domestic and international affairs, and enjoys learning about specialty ag and horticulture. With a unique background and a deep interest in ag, Bryson is thinking about a potential career within specialty ag and crop production, and becoming a business owner!

Meet Allison Walbrecht
Major: Animal Science - Business and Communications
Minor: Agribusiness; Engler Entrepreneurship; Krutzinger Beef Industry Scholars
Hometown: Lincoln, Nebraska
Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: Allison will graduate in the spring of 2026 with a degree in Animal Science and a full résumé. Allison has served as an intern for the Nebraska Governor's Office, shadowed State Senator Teresa Ibach, worked as a Nebraska Cattlemen intern, and partnered with 4-H to start a non-profit program to empower youth with disabilities. Allison has demonstrated strong passions for learning more about policy, trade, ag outreach and leadership, and Nebraskan producers. After graduating in May 2026, Allison plans on moving to Washington, D.C. to pursue a career in agricultural policy!
