Mark McHargue is a fourth-generation farmer from Central City. He and his wife Judi have four adult children. They have a diversified farming operation raising irrigated corn, popcorn, and soybeans utilizing organic and conventional cropping methods, along with a finishing hog operation. Mark and his son also own and operate McHargue Builders specializing in work force development housing.

McHargue has been in various leadership capacities for more than 25 years in the Nebraska Farm Bureau. He was elected President of Nebraska Farm Bureau in December 2020 and elected to the American Farm Bureau Board of Directors in January 2021 where he chairs the committee on international trade. Currently McHargue sits on several state and national advisory committees including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Ag related issues as well as advisor to the office of President at the University of Nebraska.

McHargue is a strong advocate for insuring and protecting farmers and ranchers’ property and livelihoods and serves as Chairman of the Board of the Farm Bureau Property and Casualty Insurance Company.

He has a passion for agriculture policy and advocacy. Mark’s hope is that the next generation of farmers and ranchers will have the same opportunity to pursue their dreams as an agriculturalist he was given.
