Meet the 2026-2027 Yeutter Student Fellows

The Yeutter Student Fellows program is a professional development program for students seeking a margin of excellence in their career preparation by connecting knowledge gained in the classroom with professional development opportunities. Each year, a new cohort of students from various majors and colleges across campus comes together around the common theme of international trade, learning to view trade issues from different perspectives.

The institute’s namesake, Clayton Yeutter, was passionate about students and preparing them for our changing world. During a 1989 commencement speech he said— 

“…if you are prepared to be broad and creative and global in your thinking, you should have a very productive and rewarding career indeed.” 

We are committed to that same mindset and on that note, want to introduce this year's Yeutter Student Fellows! Read more about the students that were selected below.

Meet Addy Donelson

Major: Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication

Minor: Agricultural Leadership; Public Policy Analysis

Hometown: Newman Grove, Nebraska

Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: 

Addy is a senior majoring in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication. Having served as a Public Policy Intern and Communications Intern with Nebraska Farm Bureau, Addy has supported the organization's Political Action Committee, assisted with policy and advocacy research, and written news releases and articles that tell the stories of Nebraska's farmers and ranchers. This past summer, Addy worked in Washington, D.C. as a Government Affairs Intern with the American Farm Bureau Federation, meeting with congressional staff and analyzing legislation and policy. With a passion for the intersection of agricultural policy and communications, Addy enjoys learning how policy decisions shape agriculture and how effective communication connects producers, consumers, and policymakers. After graduation, Addy aspires to build a career in agricultural policy and communications, advocating for the industry and sharing the stories that matter!

Meet Nathan Leibbrandt

Major: Economics; Accounting

Hometown: Sprague, Nebraska

Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: 

Nathan is a senior majoring in Economics and Accounting. As a Project Finance Intern with The Hope Venture, Nathan supported project teams in Southeast Asia and East Africa through accounting, budgeting, and resource management, working alongside large, diverse teams on projects ranging from agriculture to medical care. Nathan also served as a Tax Intern with Dana F. Cole, LLP, where he filed taxes and enjoyed exploring creative solutions to complex problems within the tax code. With a passion for economic history, Nathan has a growing interest in the anti-globalization trend and what it could mean for domestic and global economies, especially in the developing world. While still exploring where his career path will lead, Nathan is drawn to international trade!

Meet Matthias Erickson

Major: International Business (Economics Focus)

Minor: International Trade; Pre-Med

Hometown: Lansing, Kansas

Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: 

Matthias is a junior majoring in International Business with a focus in economics. Having spent this past summer as a Supply Chain Intern in the Materials and Operations Planning department at Conagra Brands, Matthias worked to ensure materials met demand efficiently and managed master data material organization. With a passion for geography and cultures, Matthias recently studied abroad in Singapore and is interested in the foreign policy and trade aspects of international business, as well as the medical sciences. After graduation, Matthias plans to attend medical school to become an MD, with interest in a career with Doctors Without Borders or as a foreign service officer after a career in the health sciences!

Meet Omar Gonzalez

Major: Finance

Minor: Economics

Hometown: Columbus, Nebraska

Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: 

Omar is a junior majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics. Having spent this past summer as a Supply Chain Intern at Timpte, Omar analyzed supplier costs, tariffs, and commodity pricing. Omar is currently a Corporate Accounting Intern at Nelnet, where he processes financial transactions, reconciles accounts, and supports financial reporting. With a passion for understanding how large-scale economic and financial changes affect businesses, industries, and individuals, Omar enjoys opportunities to make meaningful contributions and see the impact of his work. After graduation, Omar plans to pursue a career in financial analysis or FP&A, analyzing company performance and supporting business decisions!

Meet Emma Moss

Major: Agricultural Leadership; Agricultural Economics

Minor: Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program

Hometown: Lincoln, Nebraska

Interests, Internships, & Aspirations: 

Emma is a senior majoring in Agricultural Leadership and Agricultural Economics. As a Policy Intern with the Nebraska Governor's Office, Emma monitored legislative priorities, analyzed policy briefs, and assisted senior staff with constituent and industry relations. As a Legislative and Operations Intern with Nebraska Cattlemen, Emma supported legislative policy tracking, member billing, and grassroots producer outreach, translating the realities of cattle operations into actionable policy. With a passion for agricultural economics, commodity markets, and agricultural and trade policy, Emma also enjoys learning about organizational leadership and rural development. After graduation, Emma hopes to pursue a career in agricultural trade policy, international market development, or agricultural advocacy, working to expand market access for American producers, with law school as a possible path toward becoming a senior policy advisor or legal counsel!
